Biographical Summary: Paul E Slobodian

Paul Slobodian has offices  in Vestal, New York and New Bern, North Carolina.

Previously, Slobodian has resided in Chappaqua, NY with offices in midtown Manhattan, and in Palos Verdes Estates,
CA with offices in downtown Los Angeles.

Education
Slobodian has a master’s degree in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. Slobodian also earned a bachelors degree and a doctorate in psychology from Boston
University.  At the Sloan School Slobodian studied with noted organizational experts  
Richard Beckhard, Edgar
Schein, Edwin Nevis and John van Maanen.  His master's thesis was a study of socialization techniques employed by
technology companies for senior executives.  His faculty review committee included Edgar Schein and Edwin Nevis.

Career
Slobodian began his career in Boston Massachusetts, working in the public sector for several years, initially at the
Dorchester Mental Health Center where he held the position of Director of Intake and Community Programs and at the
Harvard Street Health Center where he was Clinical Chief of the Mental Health and Social Services Department.

After earning a masters in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts of Technology,
Slobodian joined the Los Angeles office of RHR International, a Chicago based management consulting firm.  In 1986
Slobodian was promoted to run the New York City office of RHR.  In 1990 Slobodian was hired by the Universal
Instruments division of Dover Corporation.  Slobodian is credited as being instrumental in rebuilding Universal’s
competitiveness by upgrading organization talent, leading a comprehensive quality initiative and using performance
based compensation systems.

Slobodian has recently served as Vice President of Human Resources and Administration of Allegheny Energy, a
Fortune 500 company and is founder of Pivot Consulting, LLC, an organization and management development
consulting firm.

Community Service
Throughout his career Slobodian has been active in community service.  Slobodian has served as an adjunct faculty
member of the Binghamton University School of Management where he also served on the Deans Advisory Board.  
Slobodian also is serving (by a governor’s appointment) on the New York State Workforce Investment Board.  He has
recently served on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Southern Tier Board and on the Board of Lourdes Hospital.  Slobodian
has been involved with the United Way for over a decade, initially serving on the board of the Broome County United
Way and subsequently at the State level as a member of the board of the New York State Association of United Ways.

Previous community service activities include President of the Broome County Arts Council and board member of the
Area II Home Health Care (in Boston) and member of the Vestal School Foundation.
